Historic Magnolia's Evening in Lights

Historic Magnolia's Evening in Lights will be Friday, March 26 from 6-9 p.m. and will feature Pat Cornacchione's Swing Band with no charge. Optional also will be a catfish dinner catered by Smithie Buie, Jr. Dinner tickets are advance sale only at Citizens' National Bank, First Bank and Pike National Bank and are: Adults $12.00. It is located in Downtown Magnolia (North Railroad Park) an alternate rain site will be Magnolia Community Center.

Eggstravaganza!!

North Park, Sunday, March 28, 2010

The Eggstravaganza in the Park will be Sunday, March 28 from 2 to 4 p.m. at North Park. There will be an Easter Egg Hunt. Pictures with the Easter Bunny for $5.00, fun and games, Park Wall Tiles for sale. The Eggstraganza is hosted by the Junior Auxiliary of Amite.

When it comes to actions in state government, it doesn’t take history long to repeat itself. Years ago, fiscal reformers pushed through a constitutional amendment to create a Budget Stabilization Fund (BSF), which became popularly referred to as the “Rainy Day Fund.” The actual intent of the legislation was not so much to create a piggy bank for tough economic times as it was to prevent the budgeting of “windfall” revenues for recurring expenditures. The rapid rise and fall of volatile oil and gas revenues had led to feast-or-famine budgeting.
