Lady Wolves back in 1st place

LORANGER – The Loranger Lady Wolves had a big week on the court - and they also saw Amite drop two games in district play. The Lady Wolves are now back on top of the district 9-3A standings after two big wins last week.
Loranger opened the week with a big 46-41 win over the Albany Lady Hornets and then closed the week with an easy 67-38 win over the Bogalusa Lady Lumberjacks. Loranger enters this week’s play with an 11-11 overall record, but more importantly, 5-1 in district play.
In their first game of the week, the Loranger Lady Wolves renewed their rivalry with district foe Albany. A close game saw the Lady Wolves come up with a big run in the final minutes of the game to win 46-41.
The Lady Wolves were down 31-29 entering the fourth quarter but their run in the final stages of the game was the difference. Baileigh Bankston was once again on top of her game as she paced the Lady Wolves with 14 points.
Loranger opened the game by going on a 9-6 run and then added to their lead with a 13-10 margin in the second to lead 22-16 at halftime. But the Lady Hornets took the lead in the third with a 15-7 run.
Tina Booth helped the Lady Wolves' cause with eight points as Loranger went on to pick up a 46-41 win over the Albany Lady Hornets. Loranger then closed the week in strong fashion with a blowout win over Bogalusa.
Loranger's big 67-38 win over Bogalusa accompanied by Sumner’s win over Amite put the Lady Wolves in sole possession of first place of district 9-3A entering this week's action.
