Guy Spitale, 84 of Amite.

On Wednesday, February 3, Guy Spitale, 84, of North First Street, Amite was arrested and detained for the apparent shooting of a woman, an employee of his, Elsie McGee. McGee is a 47 year-old resident of Roseland.
According to reports from the Amite Police Department, the incident allegedly began when Spitale's relative, Micheal Petitto entered Spitale's establishment, Guy's Oyster Bar (Corner Bar) to present Spitale with a gas bill. Spitale and Petitto began to argue at some point and McGee stepped in between the two men because she reputedly felt that the argument was getting out of hand. McGee was facing Petitto and Spitale was right behind her. She reported hearing a loud boom and then Spitale leaving the bar on foot. It was not until she moved and blood began to drip on her face that she knew she had been shot. It appears that Spitale pulled an old revolver and shot, supposedly aiming for Petitto and accidently shot McGee.
An Amite City Councilman came into the establish right after the incident occured and transported McGee to Hood Memorial Hospital Emergency Room where she was treated for a minor gun shot wound to the head.
Spitale was arrested that day, booked and charged with two counts of attempted first degree murder and one counts of aggravated assault. He spent three days in jail.
