The Tangipahoa Volunteers for Family and Community Council is offering a scholarship to a 2010 graduating senior of a Tangipahoa public, private, parochial, or home schooled qualifying senior.

Louisiana Sheriffs’ Scholarship Program Underway

TP Sheriff Edwards pleased to be part of Program

The Louisiana Sheriffs’ Scholarship Program will award scholarships providing assistance to worthy Louisiana students in furthering their education and training with resources made available through the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Honorary Membership Program.
According to Program Chair, St. Charles Parish Sheriff Greg Champagne, “This Scholarship Program is a meaningful expression of the Program’s respect for education. It demonstrates our confidence in Louisiana’s youth . . . our future leaders.”

Indy Elementary teacher wins Above and Beyond Award

The ENOS F. "JAKE" BAILEY ABOVE AND BEYOND AWARD has gone to Kristy Ard, a teacher at Independence Elementary for going above and beyond the call of teaching. Ard was presented the award by School Board member Sandra Bailey-Simmons and was congratulated by her principal, Cathy LeBlanc. Ard was chosen because she recently saw a need in a child and provided that child and a sibling with a temporary home. "She not only showed compassion to these children, she showed her own three boys what it means to have compassion," LeBlanc said.
