The Best Buddies Club of Oak Forest visited their buddies at Hammond High School on Tuesday, February 23 for hold a kickball tournament. The Louisiana Special Olympics partnered with OFA for a day of pure excitement and all participants were awarded a medal for their participation. OFA Best Buddies Chapter President Marci Gaines and her Buddy Nathalie Tillman posed for a quick picture after all the games were over.

TVFC to raffle quilt

Proceeds to fund 2011 scholarship for a Tangipahoa Parish student

The Tangipahoa Volunteers for Family and Community, an all-volunteer arm of the LSU Extension service recently completed their 2011 Scholarship Quilt, ‘Triumph of the Black and Gold’. Tickets are available for purchase from any TVFC member or by calling the Extension office in Amite at 985-748-9381 and a member will return your call. Money raised from this quilt will be used to fund a scholarship for a high school senior in Tangipahoa Parish graduating in 2011.

LORANGER ELEMENTARY FOURTH GRADERS LEARN ABOUT THE AMERICAN FLAG from the Shiloh Homemakers's literacy program, "Fourth Graders Meet the American Flag". The program, which presents the history, etiquette and proper care of the flag, as well as the ceremonial folding of the flag, is presented shortly before the parish LEAP test. Winners of the Question and Answer section of the program are front row from left Oscar Miller, Kimberly Hart, Isaiah Lundy, Kaely Morrison, Grace Gauthreaux.

Christian concert at Amite High

There will be a free Christian Concert on Wednesday, March 17 at the Amite High School Auditorium. The concert will be featuring Josh Perez, Foundation, and guest speaker Sean Letard. This concert will also feature "Foundation" from House on the Rock Church. Christian rap artist Josh Perez will also be performing.
