OYSTER FESTIVAL PAY ONE PRICE - Friday, March 19: 6:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m., Saturday, March 20: 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and new bracelets can be purchased from 5:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m., Sunday, March 21: 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. ALL BRACELETS ARE COLOR CODED AND CAN ONLY BE USED AT SPECIFIED TIMES.

DWI checkpoints scheduled for St. Tammany & Tangipahoa

Louisiana State Police Troop L will conduct two DWI Checkpoints on Thursday, March 18th in St. Tammany Parish and on Friday, March 19th in Tangipahoa Parish. The DWI Checkpoints will begin at approximately 7:00 pm in St. Tammany Parish and 10:00 pm in Tangipahoa Parish. The first checkpoint will be manned by Louisiana State Police and the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office. The second will be manned by Louisiana State Police, Wildlife and Fishery Agents, and the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office.

The Town of Amite City will once again participate in the "Cleanest City Contest". The judges are scheduled to be here in Amite on Tuesday, March 23. This contest is done by the Louisiana Garden Club Federation, Inc. The co-sponsors of the event at the Town of Amite City, The Stem and Stamen Garden Club and the Amite Chamber of Commerce.

INDEPENDENCE POLICE DEPARTMENT. The team of the Independence Police Department showed off their beautiful table during the Sicilian Heritage Festival Spaghetti Cook-Off Friday, March 12. The Independence Police Department won 2nd place in the best meatball division, 1st place in the table decoration division and were crowned the 2010 over-all winner of the cook-off.

Loranger man killed in one vehicle crash

The Louisiana State Police Troop L released Thursday, March 11 at 8 a.m., that there had been a fatal crash that resulted in the death of a Loranger man. This one vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of LA 443 and LA 1064 in Tangipahoa Parish.
