Amite's Mission Team goes to Mexico

A Mission Team that consisted of 13 individuals from House on the Rock and First Baptist Church of Amite spent four days in San Andres Tuxtla, Vera Cruz, Mexico over the weekend of January 7. Mike and Rachel Rogers, Dustin Mitchell, Jeff and Tammy McKneely, Chip and Dee Fitz, Sheryl Lee, Leslie Martinez, Danielle McKneely, Mike and Miranda Foster, and Jennifer Pray will never forget their experiences of the mission in Mexico.

The Amite Chamber of Commerce welcomed two guest speakers at their March meeting on Wednesday, March 10 at Mike's Catfish. First to the podium was Debi Fleming from the Tangipahoa Voluntary Council on Aging, followed by Carol Brooke from the Amite Oyster Board.

Attorney Willie G. Johnson, Jr. was recently accepted as a new partner with the law firm of Seale, Smith, Zuber and Barnette Attorneys at Law. The law firm is located in Baton Rouge.

John Bel Edwards speaks to Halimah DAR

Halimah Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution held its annual National Defense Luncheon Saturday, February 28 at Mike's Catfish Inn. Some thirty-five members and guests heard State Representative John Bel Edwards speak of the need for young people to prepare themselves for service in the military branches now defending the United States. Noting that in addition to Afghanistan and Iraq, Mr. Edwards pointed out that the military is often called on for special assistance in other countries such as in Haiti.

OPTIONS PLANT SALE ON MARCH 20, 2010

The OPTIONS Horticulture Department will hold a plant sale on Saturday, March 20th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Greenhouse at OPTIONS, 19362 W. Shelton Road, Hammond.
Tomato Plants, 4” pots, will sell for only $1.00. Annual bedding plants start at $1.00. A variety of Herbs will sell for $2.00 each.
