HAMMOND – Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards proudly announces that the TPSO K9 Unit participated in the Region 10 USPCA K9 trials held in Zachary. 

These trials include K9 Handlers and their K9 companions from Louisiana, Arkansas and Mississippi. Each year, these teams come together for annual certifications and to compete to qualify to participate in the National USPCA field trials. Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office is proud to announce that all TPSO K9 Teams certified and qualified to participate in the National USPCA Trials which will be held in Hammond and hosted by Sheriff Edwards and the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office.

During these trials, participants showed their abilities in the areas of obedience, agility, scent work and suspect apprehension with and without gunfire. Deputy Henry Neihaus also certified and qualified in the field of narcotics work. 

Sergeant Tommy Ferrand and K9 Diego certified and qualified for Nationals receiving 11th place overall in the Region.

Sergeant Steven Redmond and K9 Bart certified and qualified for Nationals receiving first place in scent work.

Deputy Mike Dean Jr. and K9 Emir; Deputy Henry Neihaus and K9 Trigger; and Deputy Albert Sharp and K9 Titan, all certified and qualified for the National Field trials. 

The National USPCA Field Trials will be held on October 31 - November 5, 2010 in Hammond, and are open to the community. As the event host, the Sheriff's Office welcomes anyone who would like to attend. The location for the event has not been set.
