The Tangipahoa Parish School Board's Personnel Committee and Superintendent Mark Kolwe have hired a new principal at West Side Middle to replace Melissa Ryan, who had been transferred to a school in Ponchatoula.

Mr. Marcil Seals, a former Assistant Principal in the Lafayette School District, was formally hired with a two year contract. Kolwe said Seals had many years of experience in middle school administration, and he is expected to complete his Doctorate from LSU in August. Chief Desegregation Officer Lynell Higgenbotham said she had no issues or objections to hiring Seals, and that he had been approved. Higgenbotham was active in the interviewing and hiring process for the principalship positions of the district.

More information regarding personnel decisions to come at a later time.

The full Board will vote on the committee's report on Tuesday, July 20.
