Kentwood Rotarians receive tips for farm loans
Access to credit continues to be an urgent need for farmers across the state, especially for small and beginning farmers. Starting a new farm is not like starting any other small business, it can require significant upfront capital to get off the ground. For those farmers who need financial assistance to help establish or expand their farm, help is out there.
This was the message at the Kentwood Rotary Club on Thursday, November 2.
Lisa Gillespie, a farm loan officer with USDA Farm Service Agency in Amite, presented a broad overview of the various programs available to help young and beginning farmers.
