Public gives input on ordinance

AMITE- All the hoopla over a proposal to remove the Amite Oyster Festival from downtown may be little more than grandstanding because Mayor Buddy Bel says that when all is said and done, he has the final say as to where the festival will be held.
Council chambers were full Friday afternoon, May 12, as proponents and opponents of a proposed ordinance by Councilman Jonathan Foster to move the festival from the downtown area to an unspecified location was debated. However, the ball seemed to be in the court of the opponents, as no one spoke directly in support of the proposal.
