Senator Beth Mizell answers questions in Independence
Senator Beth Mizell held a Town Hall meeting on Monday, July 16 at the Independence City Hall. Several members of the Town of Independence government were in attendance as well as Representative Nicholas "Nicky" Muscarello and concerned local citizens. The purpose of the meeting was for Senator Mizell to discuss items that were covered in the Louisiana Legislature. Senator Mizell has been in office for three years and has attended ten sessions. She began by saying, "I'm here to answer questions and clarify where we are. The state has a lot of problems. We were able to address some this year, but no matter what your view is, it is an uphill battle."
She explained about a few bills that she sponsored during session then took questions from the audience. The first bill was a "reform minded" bill. Louisiana does not allow milk to go on sale. There are only two states in this country that do not allow milk to go on sale. Those states are New Jersey and Louisiana.
