Uniting In Prayer

One needs only briefly glance at the television or Internet to become keenly aware of the devastation in the United States and on the global stage. There is abundant evidence of many lives lost or devastated through wars, political unrest, economic hardship and other tragedies.

On a beautiful May afternoon, Kentwood citizens and surrounding communities across the United States united in prayer as one nation under God. The annual event brought the crowd together with the belief that prayer can make a difference in their town, its businesses, leaders, and families. One day set aside so people from all backgrounds and walks of life can come together to lift up the country and one another is what the National Day of Prayer is all about, said Kentwood Mayor Irma Gordon, who led this year’s event.
