Wolves pile up hits in win over Kentwood
After experiencing back-toback losses last week, Loranger baseball (10-16 overall) topped Kentwood (13-7 overall) at home 8-3 last Saturday. David Smith pitched the entire game for the Wolves and ended his day on the mound with a total of five strikeouts.
Kentwood held an early lead after Terrell Hookfin put the Kangaroos on the board first with a run in the top of the fourth inning. Loranger responded in the bottom of the inning when Tanner Beyl sent a long ball into centerfield for a triple that would also send runners Quinn Willie and Smith home. Loranger’s bats seemed to find a rhythm in the latter part of the evening, rallying for four runs in the bottom of the fifth. Luke Colona came up big in the rally for the Wolves by hitting a triple, and he was later sent home on a sacrifice bunt by Travis Lamb. Loranger would go on to score two more runs in the sixth.
